Chronic Insomnia During Summer!?

Hello everyone. From the past 3 years I have noticed I develop chromic insomnia during the summer season. This starts in Feb and usually lasts till June until it starts raining here. It’s so chronic that sometimes in a period of 48 to 72 hours I just sleep for hardly 5 hours! Last year I had to go to a psychiatrist because I wasn’t able to sleep for a second for over 48 hours! The doc prescribed Librium (Chlordiazepoxide) for 10 days and then kept me on Olanzapine 5 mg and Prozac 20 mg for 3 hours.. But his diagnosis was that I was suffering from depression. But now I am starting to believe this is not depression and it’s something else. Is anyone aware of any such disorders and also what kind of treatment would be appropriate? Hypnotic or non hypnotic medicines? Assuming I have to live with this problem for life, I don’t think hypnotics will be an option

Few facts about myself

I am 24 and I don’t have any underlying condition. I would say I am very much healthy.
I am not on any medicines at the moment. I finished my antidepressant course in December.

Hi,
I have felt like you in the past but it wasnt depression.
I found with me that it was because it was so light still late at night, that I felt I couldnt sleep and so therefore didnt go to bed until it was dark and late and then lie there trying to get to sleep when I was just so overtired.
In the end what I did was, i brought black out blinds for my bedroom so my bedroom was in complete darkness although outside was still light. This totally stopped my insomnia and to this day I still have those great blinds up!
Also do you take your medicine at night? Sometimes even medications can keep us awake and perhaps this is worth looking into. I am on olanzapine, but I am on it for more of a calming tablet when I am quite anxious and angry. This doesnt help me sleep though, it just helps calm me.
Try the black out blinds as it may just be something as simple as this that will help you.
Hope it does and good luck.
