  1. Prozac, Depression, Sleep Problems, Headaches, Exhaustion, ect…?
    I’ve been taking Prozac for several months. I started taking it not long after getting my first after college job and being very unhappy there (due to a lack of work to do, which stressed me out because I felt like I should always be doing something seeing as I was being paid by the hour). I’m certain this is what sparked several weeks of random crying and extreme sadness. And lots of headaches. So I went to the doctor and she suggested Prozac. I figured, why not? I haven’t exactly thought of myself as a particularly happy person to begin with. Maybe I’ve always been a little depressed?

    The Prozac hasn’t really done much good. Sure I’ve stopped the random crying and extreme frustration over having nothing to do at work… but I feel just as happy/unhappy as I did before my job.

    Could I just not have been depressed in the first place? Or could my depression just be something different that I’ve had a long time.

    For instance, 5 years ago when I was almost 17, my very young foster brother and sister who we had every intention of adopting were taken away from us. The removal of them from my home was EXTREMELY upsetting to me and I think I was truly depressed for months afterwords although I never went to a doctor about it. Looking back on the event looking for symptoms of depression and whatnot, I think that’s around when my sleeping problems began. Ones I’ve had for years. Though my doctor says my sleeping isn’t that unusual, it is very difficult for me to fall asleep and I have trouble turning my brain off at night. I’ll just keep thinking about some random thing (I can change what I think about, but I can’t replace it with nothing.) It typically takes half an hour to an hour to fall asleep. It’s not unusual for it to take longer than that.
    Around this time is also probably when I started getting headaches very often. Also when I began to feel tired (not so much sleepy as without energy) throughout almost every day despite the amount of sleep I got.

    Half a year later I went away to college and managed to not get completely distressed over the event. But I still thought of it often and would have breakdowns. Years later I still am very upset over it and I’m sure at least once a month I have a little breakdown over it.

    I’ll probably be visiting my doctor again soon (It’s hard for me to get in due to my work location being a very long drive from the doctor’s office) but in the mean time I’m curious what you have to say.

    Do you think I’m not really depressed? Or that I am? Or that I have some version of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? What does that even feel like anyways?

    p.s. My sleeping problems have changed to more waking up in the middle of the night issues since taking Prozac. I was thinking of weaning off of it because this is very disrupting and makes me very tired at work.

  2. It’s possible that Prozac just isn’t helping you. Anti-depressants work differently for different people. Even though it may be a helpful medication for some people, it may not be working for you. You should go back to the doctor who prescribed you it and discuss other options. You cannot stop taking it until you have spoken with your doctor due to side effects.

  3. I think you need a different doctor and get off the prozac which can and does often increase depression and anxiety…
    I also think you are right on with your own analysis, and you can clear up this and other problems for free with the method below and it doesnt take but a few minutes each… really… just check it out, if you need therapists, there are some there also…
    Get the medical protocol quack off your insurance and mind/back…
    seriously…
    There is an easier less painful way of healing, and you never will in that setting, even if you have some insight…. which you already have…
    :Yes, it triggered your depression, a lot of hidden abandonment and other issues, depression because they are unresolved, and possibly PTSD.. but you can heal these with the method below without all the pain and grief… then you can combine it with a therapist who knows you can heal without all the money,pain, and grief, too…It feels like something unresolved, something triggers the thoughts and feelings and in some cases ‘flashbacks’ to the events that trigger it..l..etc
    Your sleeping problems could also indicate that your hormones (cortisol regulates sleep) are imbalanced and the prozac and other antidepressants cant fix that….
    So, yes, I would wean off it.. and find help below..My opinion
    I know this works, and i use it …..
