Treatments, Cures And Remedies For Sleep Disorders!

Only those of us that suffer or have suffered from sleep depravation can truly understand what it’s like to try and think and function as a human being running on half steam. There are so many causes for sleeplessness that there is no cure-for-all remedy or treatment. However, so long as you can identify the root cause of your problem, you will be in a much better position to find the right treatments, cures, and remedies for your condition.

One of the more common yet most overlooked causes for insomnia is simply because folks have gotten themselves into bad sleep patterns. By this I mean going to bed at a different time every night, staying up all night and sleeping all day at the weekends, and basically just not practicing any kind of sleep routine.

People who develop a consistent routine of waking up and going to bed at the same time everyday, (even at the weekends), often find they can say goodbye to their lack of sleep once and for all, and once again, they are able to function normally during the daylight hours. If you have problems sleeping, you might want to take a look at your sleep pattern.

People who worry a lot often find they take their woes to be with them, and this can keep us tossing and turning all night long. My grandmother used to say, “You die if you worry, and you die if you don’t! So why worry?” Okay so that’s easier said than done, but if this is you then you really should try not to take your worries to bed with you. After all, you can’t do everything at once, and whatever it is that’s keeping you awake will be there in the morning whether you sleep or not. Be good to yourself and try to live in the moment as much as possible.

There are many great books on how to live in the ‘now’ and some folks find that by adopting some of the suggestions outlined in these publications, they are able to get their sleep back on track.

One friend of mine that used to suffer greatly from insomnia found a simple yet powerful bedtime ritual which has helped him sleep like a log ever since. Before he puts his head on the pillow at night he asks himself 2 questions. 1. “Did I deliberately upset or hurt anyone today?” and, 2. “Did I do anything to deliberately upset or hurt myself today?”

But even if he answers ‘yes’ to any of the above questions, he promises himself that he’ll try harder to be more tolerant and compassionate towards himself and others tomorrow. Simple, yet effective way of clearing the mind of any wrongdoing, and it’s quite often this latent and subconscious shame or guilt that we carry around which keeps many of us awake at night. Sound daft? Try it! You could be pleasantly surprised by the results.

There are many treatments and remedies for sleeplessness, some good, some not so good, and other which are just pure poppycock, and it’s important to note that what works for one may not work for another. Finding a cure for ‘your’ sleep problem is first identifying the cause, and then practicing a few of the suggested treatments and remedies.

Some of the more simple solutions for mild sleep disorders include exercising in the afternoon, drinking warm milk or other warm bedtime beverage before going to sleep, avoiding anything too mentally stimulating during the evening hours, and just getting into the habit of going to bed and waking up at the same time every day.

  1. Why does the Government allow drugs like Alcohol and tobacco? and not Weed?
Alcohol and tobacco cause far more deaths than weed ever has and Alcohol makes people violent and has no benefits and tobacco only makes people sick, while weed actually has a lot of good benefits why don’t they un-ban weed and ban alcohol and tobacco?

i mean how many people die from Alcohol and tobacco a year? i bet tons

And how many people died form smoking weed? None.

what’s wrong with the government… they allow drugs that cause deaths and ban drugs that don’t cause deaths….

and btw weed has alot of uses

As far as medicinal treatment is concerned, marijuana has an incredibly long history dating back to thousands of years and hence it should not be amazing to know that at some point or the other marijuana has been recommended for curing almost all the prevalent diseases. It is beneficial as an analgesic as it provides relief from pain with minimum or insignificant side affects. In fact, marijuana is especially beneficial for cancer and AIDS patients who are enduring chemotherapy. Significantly enough, marijuana can also diminish neurological over activity as well as muscle contraction and hence it is very useful for people suffering from multiple sclerosis (hardening and thickening of body tissue as a result of unwarranted growth or degeneration of nerve fibers), cerebral palsy and other muscular disorders.

By lowering the blood pressure, marijuana provides effectual cure for glaucoma. Normally, glaucoma is a condition where the pressure inside the eyeball is unusually high and is also hypertensive affecting the eye disc. Marijuana is also an effectual remedy in curing asthma, menstrual pains, pain associated with childbirth and arthritis as well as rheumatism. It may also be effective in treating depressions as the herb has anti-depressant properties. At the same time, marijuana encourages as well as stimulates sleep helping patients suffering from insomnia. Even the seeds of the marijuana plant are medicinally useful and according to the Chinese medicine, they have strong and effective laxative qualities and are used to provide relief to the elderly people from constipation.

  7. I agree with legalizing weed but I like my alcohol and smokes. The points you covered were the ones I did in an assignment months ago for English, I have an A+ for that :) marijuana holds hundreds of medical properties and it’ affect is no different in the dangerous aspect to many many things you can purchase over the counter. The government is fucking deluded and needs a major wake up call to the benefits of weed, legalizing it would also help the economy by putting money back into it rather than it going overseas and with drug dealers.

  8. Alcohol was prohibited but it was so ingrained in society they had to repeal it.

Tobacco wasn’t proved dangerous till the 1980s. (proved not suspected)

Marijuana happens to average 11 times more damaging than cigarette smoke and literally does damage to your DNA.

You pot heads tend to leave those facts out often. Add to that you would be legalizing an insurance nightmare, a tax firestorm and a drug abuse wave of epic proportions and sure you can have your pot free and legal.

Car and work insurance has to cover legal pot smokers now. That coverage wont come cheap.

Tax regulation will take more manpower and police hours tracking the black market than the fully illegal side ever did. don’t believe me? look at the man hours logged after prohibition ended. it took forever for people to go back to buying legit and taxed booze.

I don’t want work with people who are still be suffering the effects of pot and trying to operate machinery/vehicles.

You are out of your mind.

  10. Marijuana is illegal for a few reasons, though whether they are sound or not is another question.

Firstly, it is generally perceived to be addictive. While in some cases it is true, for the most part people do not become addicted to Marijuana.
It also has links with ‘hard’ drugs, such as cocain and heroin. It is seen as a gateway drug, and therefor as dangerous.

Naturally, the common perception of Marijuana is also with negative lifestyles, such as losers and hippies.

Another thing that makes it difficult to remove the ban is that inertia in the public forum is more powerful than you might think. If there isn’t any real outcry for it, then no politician in their right mind will try to take the ban off the books, since that would bring down the fury of many Christian groups.

Alcohol and tabacco are both long standing industries, with powerful lobbying groups, lots of money, and lots of people supporting them. They are perceived as less dangerous, and as more acceptable, even though smoking is becoming very unfashionable.

  11. The truth is weed is a drug and no matter how mild it is it can still impair your judgement. I’m going to be completely honest, I think weed SHOULD be legalized. It would be an excellent way to stimulate our economy. However, because of the large number of conservatives in this country, a bill to legalize marijuana would be a hard thing to pull off.

There is hope though, the state of California has tossed the idea around for a long time and many politicians are for it. But once again don’t get your hopes up, the same conservatives that voted for Prop 8 would probably be the same people voting against the weed bill(Prop 8 was passed and has not been revoked btw).

Also, weed may not seem as lethal as tobacco, but it still presents the same risks. Smoke is still smoke and your risks of developing cancer still stands with weed. The reason this is almost never seen is because weed isnt habit forming, and I don’t think its possible to smoke as much weed as someone would ciggarettes.

So to sum up, weed isnt as innocent as many portray it. Having said that I would also like to add that weed should be legalized to stimulate our economy. If you want weed legalized stick by this argument, its the biggest hope you have.

    PS
Weed and alcohol impair your judgement basicly the same way, what makes one worse than the other? I really dont know.

  13. Okay, the guy who says it alters your DNA… Where are your sources? That is THE most ridiculous thing I’ve heard in regards to anti-cannabis arguments.

Cannabis was outlawed because of competition with paper mills, and to further the stereotype of latino and blacks in the 1920′s. Legalize it, and you get more control over it. I’d rather my kids get high from legal tape than in an alley with a joint laced with coke or something. Tax it up the wazoo, for all I care. It’ll help the economy. I’d just like to buy 1-2 plants and have my own personal grow-batch. I’ve never really thought much about cannabis. At ALL. But after experiencing, I realized that we are being fed lies. It won’t make you lazy. If you think it does, it just means you were one to begin with. It amplifies personality, sure, but not like the terror of alcohol can. Tell me one case of amplified anger through cannabis to the millions of reported cases of alcohol-related violence.
