Is Lunesta A Good Sleep Medication To Take?

I work nights; I came to 3rd shift because I’ve had insomnia for the past few years. I have not been on 3rd a year yet. The past month I haven’t slept well at all. I’ve taken Excedrin PM, the generic brands at Wal*Mart; yesterday I even fixed a drink to see if it would help. I don’t want a prescription. Herbs in capsule form such as Valerian and Passionflower aren’t strong enough. How much is Lunesta with insurance and is it good to take? When will it start to work? I think Ambien would be too strong, and I’ve heard it can be addictive. I’m desperate enough to try a bit of magic. Whoever answers this, please do not include a personal religious comment for the previous sentence.

I have taken several sleep medication, including Lunesta, due to a medical condition where I do not enter REM sleep properly. In a since, I never get to sleep completely.

Anyway, I never found much difference between any of them, concerning how I sleep. They did have different times of taking effect, length it stayed in the body, and side effects. Most OTC kinds I didn’t like because I woke up even more tired.

With Lunesta, it was very fast acting, it lasted about 6 hours (if I had to get up before 6 hours I wasn’t still sleepy from the drug), but I woke up with the funny after taste that is mentioned in the ads. However, overall, it wasn’t a bad medication, but I chose to go with Ambien for insurance reason.

Lunesta was a third tier drug (most expensive $30.00 copay) and had a limit of 15 per 30 day period unless my doctor got approval for more. It was kind of a pain to get all 30 days a month. Ambien has a generic now ($10.00 copay) and had a 30 per 30 day period limit. However, your prices and policies will vary depending you your insurance policy, but since Lunesta has no generic, it is usually on the highest co-pay level for your plan.

There are several others you can choose from. Each as it’s own positives and negatives, so check them out at the link below, and find the one the best suits your needs.

As for magic, sorry I don’t believe in magic (other than it being a trick), lol.
