ok i looked up insomnia on wikipedia and it says that herbs and weed can cause insomnia however it later says they can treat it. i dont get it
1. Warm milk before bed- not an old wive’s tale- it actually has a chemical in it that promotes sleep (must be warm)
2. Warm bath at bedtime- not a shower.
3. Read a BORING book, like chemistry or something like that.Likewise, a very boring TV program (the weather?) If you read or watch something you like it will defeat the purpose as it will be stimulating.
4. DO NOT take a nap during the day
5. Stay away from caffeine and caffeinated products/drinks
6. Go to bed at a decent time, and don’t sleep more than 8-9 hrs. Don’t "sleep in"- set your alarm and get up early in the a.m.
7. Do not exercise in the evenings.

Valerian Root..great for insomnia..all natural..pills smell a little but they work. for me .no side effects

It just depends on the herb. Some herbs cause insomnia, and some treat it. Take passion flower extract for example, it is used to treat anxiety and insomnia. It acts like herbal valium.

There are so many interactions and combinations that can take place depending on our body and the chemical differences.
I have seen Haldol make a 70 year old man stronger than me (called a paradoxical effect)
Some foods can affect different people differently. What you eat can further the differences.
If your having a problem sleeping, start avoiding those things that could cause it.

Taking indica marijuana is for sleeping in the medical community. It is good for pain, anxiety,seizures as well as some other uses
Sativa marijuana is used for energy. If one takes to much paranoia will take hold. It raises the heart rate wich is why some people feel the paranoia. This one can give people insomnia.
There is over 200 different kinds of marijuana, then they are broken down into sativa,indica or a high bred of the two.
Camameal tea is a calming tea, it can be bought most everywhere. Marijuana is also made into a tea in the medical community for those who can not for some reason smoke.
There are so many natural ways to help one sleep. It is just easy for most lazy people to pop a pill then learn of all the herbs out there…..marijuana being the best herb for sleeping problems, though get legal before using……

Pot has a different effect on different people. Some people will become sleepy and tired while others will feel more alert.
I don’t Wikipedia was talking about pot/weed when they mentioned that herbs can treat insomnia. There are quite a few herbal remedies that are used to treat insomnia.
Valerian Root, Kava Kava, St. John’s Wort are a few..Other
over-the-counter remedies include Melatonin and Tryptophan. These are naturally occuring substances in your system. These usually do not have any side effects.

Different herbs do different things.
For insomnia, try steeping chamomile and/or damiana and/or gotu kola and/or peppermint in hot milk with a little honey, strain and drink slowly before bed
