Insomnia? How To Help It?

I have Insomnia and Its soo very annoying. Are there any solutions to help get to sleep?

I had insomnia for 10 years.. The only thing that helped me, and it sounds silly..

But everynight while trying to go to sleep i would imagine living in a world that I was God and that i created.. The entire planet was what i would make of it, and I would build on that dream everynight..

Good Luck!

  9. Get a hair analysis (I’m not kidding). Mineral imbalances can cause insomnia. I recently got a hair analysis and it turns out I am severely Copper Toxic, which caused me mind to race and turned out to be the reason for my insomnia.

  12. Well, if you don’t prefer taking pills and such, try to relax. Think about a happy place (lol). It can ease your mind. If there is something stressful going on in a relationship, FIX IT! If something is happening at work, FIX IT! Relaxation is key when sleeping (lol again). If you have to, I guess pills may be your last resort until you unstress yourself (If that IS what your issue might be)

  13. Try minimizing your activity towards bedtime. Also, do not lay down until you are tired. You can try a mild sedative but be careful as dependency on these is fairly common. Try to keep your bedroom simply for sleeping. Studies have found that people who do multiple tasks in the room in which they sleep tend to associate these with bedtime, especially if its stressful like school or work related things.

Try working out as well. A good work out routine will help release endorphins and level our your melatonin and seratonin, both crucial neurotransmitters when determining sleep patterns.

Exercising during the day helps a lot, also the body is very sensitive to light and exposure can cause a disruption in chemicals the body needs to sleep well. You can also try melatonin a supplement, its a chemical the body makes naturally and it works wonders.

  16. I find that a relaxing hot bath does the trick. I read somewhere it has to do with the changes in body temperature during and after the bath.

Chamomile tea actually works for making you sleepy, but don’t use sugar as it will give you an energy burst you don’t need. So run a bath, make some tea, and sip in the tub. Don’t focus on sleeping or worry about it, just be in the moment.

    Nitey nite.

  17. i’ve got insomnia too and i have a few things you could try

make sure you try to go to bed earlier (even if you can’t sleep) and wake up earlier. if you do this every single day (even on weekends and vacations) a schedule will form and it will be easier to sleep.

don’t eat after 7. if there is food in your stomach while your trying to sleep it just sits there and can cause and upset stomach. it will also make you feel restless.

no soda or juice before bed. caffeine and sugar will keep you up. you could try some sleepytime tea.

exercise more often during the day.

try to make the house a bit cooler

its help some people to fall asleep while listening to music. try something mellow like jack johnson or jon mayor.

go to a doctor. while you should avoid sleeping pills they might have some other good suggestions

hope this helps and good luck!!!

  18. Well, it would depend on the cause of your insomnia. I have trouble sleeping when I have a lot on my mind. Try this visualization technique. It might seem a little strange at first, but it does work!

Turn off the lights and lie on your back, with your arms at your sides. I usually prop my knees up with a pillow.

Take several deep breaths in through your nose, holding each one in for several seconds, and then release each breath slowly through your mouth. Keep breathing deeply throughout this exercise.

Imagine a dark room. Try to visualize the things that are bothering you. If it is a person, it is easy. If it is something abstract (like money) visualize the thing that most closely represents the problem (my water heater, for example!)

Then visualize a door. Escort your visualized "problem" out the door and close it firmly. Then, move on to the next problem until all problems have been "evicted."

This is key–once they are gone from the room, don’t let them sneak back in! This happens to me when I think "What was I just thinking about?" Sometimes the difficult problems "fight" as I try to kick them out and I have to "escort" them to the door more than once.

Once your mind is cleared of the problems, imagine the room filling with bright, warm light. This light helps keep the dark thoughts out. Concentrate only on the light and the warmth generated from it. Slowly resume a normal breathing pattern.

It also helps to drink a little milk before you do this, or to spray your sheets lightly with lavender essential oils–a natural sleep aid.

    Hope this helps!

  19. What you must realize is that Insomnia is a brain related activity and is caused by the sub-conscience. If you are worried, guilty, angry, nervous, etc. there is a good change you wont be able to get to sleep. Note I really don’t know what type of Insomnia you have, however if it is chronic or acute (having occurred for more than 3+ weeks) insomnia I would seriously suggest you see a doctor, possibly even a therapist to work out emotions.

If you merely have transient insomnia (just started/ has only occurred for 1-2 weeks at the max) then I would suggest that you wait it out- that is until it begins to SERIOUSLY effect everyday lifestyle. Try concentrating on breathing, imagine as the air flows into your lungs and out of your lungs (it’s boring enough where it will probably put you to sleep). Realize that you may just be freaking yourself out and may just have a very mild (possibly temporary) sleeping disorder and you may just need to work on it. If that fails however….

Medical treatment is one solution (consult a physician… PLEASE DONT SELF MEDICATE- self medication in this scenario can have very harmful side effects; worst case scenario is death).

Generally rule of thumb with internet advice on medical concerns is: If you are not sure, CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR!!!

  20. With the use of yoga as a technique to cure insomnia, we are deemed to focus on the psychologically related insomnia causes. Seeking aid from a yoga teacher will allow you to do the practice that will help you invite a peaceful night’s sleep. At first, you are taught of how to practice better breathing. As you go along with the lessons, relaxation stages as well as meditation are also inculcated in your mind. These are powerful techniques which will help you during bedtime.
