I have a lot of things going on in my life right now, that makes me worried about the future.
I have a general Anxiety over "the decisions, I have to make now, that will affect my future" and I’ve made some major mistakes in the last two years, that just seem stupid in retrospect.
The anxiety fuels my depression. 4 weeks ago, I was so anxious I couldn’t fall asleep and I would wake up early for no reason.
Now I can only get 3-4 hours of sleep, then I wake up, and can’t go back to bed. Like today, I went to bed at 4am, and woke up at 8am, and couldn’t fall asleep, because I was trembling with fear and anxiety.
Because if I don’t get enough sleep, it only reminds me I have a problem and I screwed up, and I get more tense about decision, because I’m scared I’ll screw up and be in a worse situation I’m in now.
QUESTION:
I know there’s medication (Herbal) for insomnia, but will these same herbs like Valerian keep me asleep, or will they just help me sleep.
I talked to my doctor about Valerian, and he said he didn’t want to prescribe a prescription and advised me not to use sleep agents, because he doesn’t me to get use to sleep agents.
and that all sleep agents do if suppress your mind, and it doesn’t deal with the real problem I’m dealing, he said I should just let my system work it out, and that I’m too young to be taking sleep agents.
That was 4 weeks ago. I can’t do, it only makes feel worse during the day.
Since the insomnia is arising due to anxiety for you, perhaps treating the anxiety is the best option to help you get some restorative sleep.
Passion flower (Passiflora incarnata) and Skullcap (Scutellaria spp) can be really effective to help you manage your anxiety… I’d find a product that includes these herbs.
Check out something like Jamieson’s "Sleep Relax." Jamieson products are widely available, so while it’s not the best forumlation I’ve ever seen, it does have an effective combination that includes both of the herbs listed above, plus some Valerian and some Hops (which are mild sedative/relaxants.) And I’m sure you’ll be able to find it.
Don’t take them just before bed… take one cap three times daily to get sustained anxiolytic effects.
**Discuss this with your doc before you start taking them.** (Especially if you’re taking any prescription medications, because these herbs have significant potential to interfere with meds!)
WITH YOUR DOCTOR’s CONSENT, this dose could safely be increased without risk of dependence.

You need to make sure you get plenty exercise, like getting out more
You can’t sleep very well if your body is not tired enough.
Drink hot milk before you go to bed. do something that makes you feel happy and proud of yourself.
